 STAFFORDSHIRE: 1649.

In the name of god amen the 17th day of apriall I Richard Badnall of Knightly in the parich of Gnossall husbandman beinge sicke in bodey but in perfeat memorie god therf ore be praysed doe make and demise this my last will and Teastament in manor and forme fowllinge first I bequith my sole to god my maker hopinge to be saved by the death of my redemer Jesus Chirst and my wife boday to (be buryed in) Church wayrd of Onossall wher my shall apoynt

Item I give to my daughter Ellen Badnall five pounds to be payd to her at before she come to the adge of twentie yeares of adge ferdermore I give to her one Pound beye which was her mothers and furdermore I give to my oldest daughter Elizabeth Term shillings .Item the reast of all my goods moveable and unmoveable I give and bequiethe to Elizabath Badnall my wife and unto my tow children lawfully begotten of her bodey and I bequieth ordayne my wife elizabath Badnall my whole executor of this my wile and I intreat Robort Barnefield  Thomas [    ]ankes James Copper John Darlington tow bee overseer of this my wille and testament t[..]  advise my wife for her gud and benefeat
