In researching the Bednall, Badnall, Beadnell, etc family names we amassed an archive of several thousand original documents (the Bednall Collection) many of which came from the dispersed archives of an old established firm of solicitors in the town of Leek in Staffordshire (UK).  We also acquired approximately 600 plus other documents which were not relevant to our researches and were, therefore, passed on to others.   Although not now available for personal study, brief descriptions can be viewed and  searched by clicking on the links given above.  Almost all  the documents are paper and many are drafts for conveyances, abstracts of title and other documents which would have eventually been written on vellum. However, they also include letters, mainly from the solicitors to customers and others but occasionally from the customers to the solicitors and other people. This group of documents also includes some ephemera including bills, tax receipts, etc.

A number of the documents contain genealogical information, e.g. confirmation by relatives and others of the dates of birth, death, marriage, etc. of relatives. Most of names referred to in these documents are those of families living in North Staffordshire or South East Cheshire but some to London, Manchester, Sheffield and other areas of the UK.
